Interview Questions and Answers:
1. Tell me something about yourself
Hi, I'm Carla Alcantara. I'm 24 yrs old. I graduated from DLSU -STC. I took up Entrepreneurship, basically because I want to put up my own business someday. I'm a people person, and I think that is one of my strengths because I get well with people and I love interacting with them. I'm also very aggressive when it comes to working, and in fact, if you were to ask my former employers, that's also how they will describe me.
2. Why should we hire you?
You should hire me because I think I have the skills and capabilities that you are looking for. As I've mentioned, I am very good at dealing with diif kinds of people wc I think is very essential in this industry, especially in this position.
3. What is your long-range objectives?
If I get this job, hopefully, 5 years from now, I'm still working for this company. And I have established my career already and I have given this something that everyone, especially the bosses, that will be proud of.
4. How has your education prepared you for your career?
It has prepared me very well. Because Entrepreneurship is basically all about business. It trained me on how to put up your own business, but aside from that, it has also taught us on how we will be able to survive the corporate world. We had training and seminars that trained us on how to develop our skills, especially the ones that are very essential in any career, i.e People Skills. It taught us to be humble, and how to deal with different kinds of people. Because in business, you'll get to meet and interact with a lot of people.
5. Are you a team player?
Yes, I am very much a team player. I'm a former SK Chairman, which made me more used to dealing with a lot of people, especially with my subordinates. I was also a Group Sales Team Leader in my former job, but before that, I was a Sales Executive first, I was a member of a team. I am also a member and former Assistant Treasurer of Soroptimist International, and a member of Youth for Christ.
6. Have you ever had a conflict with a boss or professor? How was it resolved?
Yes, but nothing personal and major. It's normal to have a disagreement with your employer or boss, but I make sure to listen to their perspective, so I'd know their point-of-view, and from there, maybe we can work things out and come up with a solution to the problem.
7. What is your greatest weakness?
I think it's that I've had a hard time disconnecting from technology. I always have my smart phone with me, and I have a computer at home. So, I was constantly checking in with my work email while I check my personal email even when I was about to sleep. I checked it too often even when I'm outside of working hours and even on weekends. And my friends are always like, "get off of your work email! youre not at work rn"
I promised myself that I would stop being so obsessed with technology, and pay more attention to real life -- to my family, my friends, and what's happening around me. Detaching from technology is restful, good for my eyes (I'm told), and keeps me better-connected with the real world. I'm even reading a book, printed on paper, currently. So, I think I'm a more balanced person, now."
8. If I were to ask your professors (or your boss) to describe you, what would they say? '
As I've mentioned, I think they would describe me as a people person and that I'm also very aggressive when it comes to working. Like for example, in Kia Sta Rosa, as a new Sales Executive, your goal is to sell at least one car in a month, but I was able to sell at least 2. They saw how aggressive I am, that why they've decided to promote me to become of their Group Sales Team Leader in less than 3 months.
9. If you had to live your life over again, what one thing would you change?
I am very much happy with where I am at in my life right now, but if I were to look back and change something, it's that I think I shouldve focused more on my chosen career, even from the start. Because I started as a Sales person, then worked as an HR after, then Brand & Marketing. I think I shouldve focused more on the Sales field. But I think it's okay because I was able to learn a lot from those fields.
10. Why do you want to work in this industry?
I've always loved interacting with different kinds of people. I think that's my forte. And this industry requires people to work and interact with diff kinds of people.
11. What motivates you?
I think it's the challenges that are making me more motivated in everything I do. The more challenged I get, the more motivated I become. Why? Because I get to learn a lot of things, and it makes me discover more of my skills and enhance it.
